Meet Tracy!

Tracy Lee

Tracy is a Data Science Manager on our Data Team. Learn more about Tracy and her Life at and outside of Quora below:

Where are you located and what’s your favorite thing about your city?

I'm located in Oakland, CA. I like how quiet my neighborhood is, but also how convenient it is to get to food, shopping, concerts, etc. The pizza and coffee game are both very strong.

Why did you choose to join Quora?

I chose to join Quora because I was excited about the opportunity to have a lot of ownership and the opportunity to work across many aspects of the product.

What is your role at Quora and what team are you on?

I currently work on Poe, our AI platform, where I manage the data science team. I work with my reports to support all workstreams and pitch in wherever I see need. This can range from helping shape monetization strategy to digging into user behavior.

What kind of impact does your team have on the company as a whole?

The data's team role is to help the company many as many good decisions as possible (with data). Our work helps build understanding of our product and users and informs most of the decisions we make.

How would you describe the culture of your team and Quora as a whole?

Everyone I've worked with at Quora has been capable, helpful, and humble. The people here work hard to contribute in whatever capacity they can.

Which one of our core values at Quora do you most resonate with?

If I could only choose one, I would choose awareness. As a member of the data team, it's my duty (and also at this point a reflex), to emphasize making rigorous, data-backed decisions.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I spend my days wrangling my three dogs and trying new foods, both from dining out and experimenting with new recipes.

What has been your favorite memory working at Quora?

It's hard to choose a single favorite memory, but the data team once did powerpoint karaoke for teambuilding and it was a combination of extremely impressive (everyone who presented did so great!) and hilariously extremely stressful (for our introverted audience members).

What benefit has working remotely had on you and your team?

Our remote culture has given everyone tremendous flexibility in their daily lives by allowing them to be anywhere. Everyone on my team is a transplant and lives away from their families, and remote work allows us all to spend more time with our friends and family wherever they may be.
